Accurately implemented for decades!

Dr. Heinrich Schneider Messtechnik GmbH

A company having roots is a good thing, especially when those roots have been dug into a foundation of competence, passion and expertise for over 70 years. It all started in 1946 with high-quality lenses for our DS brand and since then we have continued with a clear view.

In 1973 another milestone was reached: Dr. Schneider created an unprecedented generation of optical and optoelectronic measurement instruments and conquered the market as manufacturers of profile projectors and multi-sensor measurement instruments. But it did not stop there, the devices were developed further and are now in use worldwide as optical, tactile and multi-sensor measurement devices and machines for 2D, 2.5D and 3D coordinate measurements for renowned customers.

Optical measurement technology remains to this day one of the core competences and pillars of Schneider Messtechnik.

As one of the leading suppliers of high-precision optical and multi-sensor measurement technology, we continue to research further.

2009
The modern pentathlon was to become more attractive for the public and media and therefore made a radical change within the five disciplines. The air pistol shooting was replaced with a laser-run and from the very beginning the specially designed precision laser target PLT from Schneider Messtechnik was relied on for the job. Those with such a good understanding of speed and precision can also transfer their know-how to other areas.

2010
The PLT is the world’s first and only homologated precision laser target and will have its premiere at the first youth games in Singapore.
This was the international breakthrough of the precision laser target and it has since been used in modern pentathlons worldwide.

2011
In addition to top-class national and international sporting events, the PLT made it to the “Musée Olympique” in Lausanne (Switzerland) after its very successful performances.

2015
The UIPM published a technical code of practice for laser guns and targets and shortly thereafter Schneider Messtechnik released the new PLT2 precision laser target. The PLT2 is now the only homologated precision laser target worldwide according to the new technical specifications of the UIPM (Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne).

2016
The PLT2 establishes confidence in its technology and will be in use for the entire UIPM World Cup season and at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

2017
Start of the successful cooperation with Meyton Elektronik GmbH for the integrated promotion of children (U12) in sport shooting.

2018
Use of the PLT2 at the youth games in Buenos Aires.

2019
The PLT2 attains the certification for the permanent installation in an air gun firing range.
Premiere of the PLT2 hybrid, an integration of the precision laser target into the electronic measuring frame (model MF5R1) made by Meyton Elektronik GmbH, also with certification.

2020
Planned use of the PLT2 and the newly developed 360° hit display at the games in Tokyo, Japan. This has been postponed provisionally to 2021 due to the pandemic of COVID-19 .
